Euro 2016: Portugal vs France Final - July 10, 2016

Portugal vs France - Competition: Euro 2016 Final
Date: 10 July 2016 - Kick-off Time: 20:00 BST
Venue: Stade de France, Paris

Portugal secured their place in the final on Wednesday night with a 2-0 victory against Wales. Both goals came in quick succession early in the second half with Ronaldo opening the scoring and Nani adding the second. Having drawn all three of their group games, the Portuguese needed extra-time to see off Croatia and then required a penalty shoot-out to get the better of Poland. Hence, the victory over Wales was their first one in regulation time. Their defense has been very impressive for most of the tournament. Excluding their wild 3-3 draw with Hungary, they have conceded just two goals in their other five games. The Portuguese team are complete underdogs going into Sunday's final as they have lost their last 10 matches against France.
Head coach Fernando Santos will be desperate to have Pepe back for the final after he missed last time out. Midfielder William Carvalho is available again following suspension and could replace Danilo in the defensive midfield role. Nani and Cristiano Ronaldo are expected to lead the line once again. Joao Mario is favourite over Moutinho for a starting berth in midfield.
France's offensive weapons didn't exactly fire on all cylinders against Germany but they were able to capitalize on the Germans’ mistakes, which was enough to get the 2-0 win. Les Blues took the lead thanks to a Griezmann penalty and he added a second on 72 minutes to seal the win. Prior to the semi final, France beat Iceland 5-2 in the quarter finals and came back from a 1-0 half time deficit to beat Republic of Ireland 2-1 in the last 16 round. In the group stage they needed late goals to seal wins over Romania (2-1) and Albania (2-0) before playing out a 0-0 draw against Switzerland.
France are likely to name an unchanged side from the one that kncoked out Germany meaning that N'Golo Kante and Adil Rami are likely to be benched. Didier Deschamps is likely to field a 4-3-3 formation with Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet supporting the central forward Olivier Giroud.  In the middle of the park Paul Pogba, Blaise Matuidi and Moussa Sissoko are the probable starters.

Germany vs France Euro 2016 Semi-final - 07-07-2016

Germany vs France - Competition: European Championship

Germany team secured their place in the semi-finals courtesy of a dramatic 6-5 penalty shootout victory over Italy, after the match ended 1-1. Since the Italian goal was scored on penalty, die Mannschaft have yet to concede a goal from open play in this tournament. The current world champions beat France 1-0 at the quarter-final stage at the World Cup two years ago thanks to a Hummels' header.
Joachim Low has a couple of concerns ahead of this game. Not only is key center-back Mats Hummels suspended, but midfielder Sami Khedira and the sole striker in the squad Mario Gómez have been ruled out with injuries. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Jerome Boateng are also struggling with fitness issues. As consequence, Thomas Muller will surely lead the line but the Bayern Munich forward is still seeking his first ever goal at a European Championship. Mario Gotze will start in the offensive midfield trio. Benedikt Höwedes will start their defence, although the Schalke defender trained away from the main group on Tuesday with a slight knock.
France team beat the tournament surprise package Iceland 5-2 at the weekend. This was also the first game in the tournament that they looked convincing. Prior to that, they narrowly beat Romania (2:1) and Albania (2:0) and recorded a goalles draw against Switzerland in the group stage. In the last-16 round, they were one goal down against Republic Ireland and booed by their fans. Anyway, a braced scored by Antoine Griezmann was enough to come from behind and win the match 2:1.
Boss Didier Deschamps will welcome midfield enforcer Kante and centre-back Adil Rami back from suspension. Samuel Umtiti and Moussa Sissoko are the most likely to be dropped from the starting eleven. Olivier Giroud is a slight doubt after skipping training with a knee injury on Tuesday. Antoine Griezmann and Dimitri Payet are sure starters upfront while Andre-Pierre Gignac and Antony Martial are in contention to replace giroud should the Arsenal striker miss out.

Probable lineups:
Germany: Neuer – Howedes, Mustafi, J. Boateng, Hector – T. Kroos, Weigl (Can) – T. Muller, Ozil, Draxler – M. Gotze.

Their only vicotry came in the last 16 round against Croatia when a goal scored by Ricardo Quaresma during the extra-time was enough to secure a 1-0 win. In three three group stage matches, the Portuguese team recorded three draw - 1:1 against Iceland, 0:0 against Austria and 3:3 against Hungary. In the last round, they knocked out Poland after a 1-1 draw and a nerve penalty shootout in Marseille.
William Carvalho is suspended, which could mean Danilo comes into midfield. Fullback Raphael Guerreiro and midfielder Andre Gomes are still sidelined with their respective injuries. Pepe missed training on Monday but he is expected to start the match regularly. Monaco star Joao Moutinho will  be hoping to start while Ricardo Quaresma and Joao Mario are in contention for a starting berth.
Wales team are in dreamland after recovering from conceding for in the quarter final with Belgium to come away with a 3-1 win. That was their 4th vicotry in five games so far, with their only loss against England (1:2) in the group stage. The other two Group B matches saw the Dragons beat 2:1 Slovakia and 3:0 Russia. In the last-16 round, they narrowly beat Norther Ireland 1:0, courtesy of an own-goal scored by Gareth McAuley. Wales, who are now the top scorers at Euro 2016, are the first Euro debutants to reach the last four since Sweden in 1992

Germany vs Italy Euro 2016 quarter finals - 02-07-2016

Germany vs Italy - Competition: European Championship

Germany team are coming off a 3-0 win over Slovakia in the round of 16, having topped their group with a goalless draw aginst Poland sandwiched between a 2-0 victory over Ukraine team and a 1-0 defeat of minnows Northern Ireland. They are the only team that has not conceded a single goal at the Euros but lacked any real attacking fluency until they came across a poor Slovakian side in the last 16.
Joachim Low has no reason to make any changes to the side that started last time out. Julian Draxler, Thomas Muller and Ozil will be the offensive midfield trio while Gomez will lead the line. Mario Gotze struggled for form in the first few games and he is expected to be benched. Unexperienced Jonas Hector and Joshua Kimmich will start as full back once again.
Italy qualified to the knockouts as Group E winner, despite their final loss to Ireland (0-1) when they already secured the top spot having won the first two games against Belgium (2-0) and Sweden (1-0). The  Azzurri knocked out Spain in their round of 16 clash with an impressive 2-0 victory and a perfect perfomance. Antonio Conte's effective pressing stifled Spain’s famed passing game, which allowed Italy to get the upper hand.
The Italians will not have midfielder Thiago Motta after he picked up his second yellow card last time out and Antonio Candreva who is out through a harmstring injury. Daniele De Rossi is a major doubt and he is expected to be replaced by Juventus midfield Stefano Sturaro. No changes are expected in defense where Bonucci, Chiellini and Barzagli are very solid, neither in attack where Eder and Graziano Pellè are improving match by match.
Germany beat Italy 4-1 in a friendly in March. After all, Italy will face a country it has never lost to in a competitive fixture, having beaten Die Mannschaft rival in all eight of their meetings in major tournaments, included in 2006, when the Germans were beaten on home soil in extra time. Italy also Italy disposed of Germany in the semi-finals four years ago, thanks to a brace from the enigmatic Mario Balotelli.

Probable lineups:
Germany: Neuer – Kimmich, J.Boateng, Hummels, Hector – Khedira, T. Kroos – T. Muller, Ozil, Draxler – Gomez.
Italy: Buffon – Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini – Florenzi, Sturaro, de Sciglio – Parolo, Giaccherini – Eder, Pelle.

Date: 2 July 2016
